Know Yourself

I hope y'all are having a great summer, but now it down to business!

I am entrusting y'all with the mission of knowing ones position. We have recently been elected positions to PCN15 Core and have no clue of what our jobs entail. To know your responsibilities and duties, please communicate with the past core members according to your position and figure out what you have to do to make this production possible.

Please comment a list of your duties and responsibilities, and if you have a Co-Co, please divided the work between each other equally! COMMUNICATION IS KEY!

Due on June 30, 2014 at 12noon

Thinking About (Summer) Goals

Hey all,  great start with the blog!

Liza let me know that some of you were interested in coming up with script ideas over the summer. This is great and I think, yes, we should get a move on the script, however, I do ask that you clarify your summer goal to "keep track of the script process." What does this specifically entail? Writing? Brainstorming or character development to bring/present to others in the fall semester? Outlining historical moments, social/contemporary issues, family/personal moments or narratives? Compiling sources, prompts or articles for inspiration? Or is a another goal not to only discuss/decide content, but to create a system or process of writing the script in an effective manner? Of course, I have to ask these questions.

Make sure that your summer goals are 1) feasible and 2) inclusive. By feasible, I mean: do-able. Writing an entire script isn't realistic, or maybe it is, it's up to you all. but if that's your goal, it must be achieved, right? And by inclusive, I mean: consider the folks who are not in the class yet, who are not in CORE, who are not "represented" or "voiced" in the ways that you all are as members of CORE and people who've had PCN experience. How can their ideas and opinions be included? What will their roles be, come fall semester? How can you collectively create an inclusive environment that values all opinions without asserting CORE as the way to be heard? How can CORE facilitate and prompt others' participation? Of course, I have to say this before big things happen.

Remember, PCN is one powerful way for students to be included in American consciousness,  or to create their own venue for visibility and validation in literature and memory. How can we replicate that process internally and externally? I say this because, straight up, CORE is important to setting a strong yet amicable tone for the rest of the year.

I know: hella questions! These are the things that we will also discuss in the fall. Make sure to include me on what the group decides for summer goals. Let me know if you need help!

"ANO ANG PCN?!" (What is PCN?)

"What is PCN?"
PCN stands for "Pilipino Cultural Night." The aim of PCN is to spread more information about and celebrate the Filipino history and culture through a large performance consisting of theater, singing and dancing held in the Spring Semester.

Welcome Skyline College PCN 2015 Core Members!
This blog's sole purpose is to keep in track of the script process.

First things first: Before we jump into this, we need to remember that we are a team, right? So I need to make sure that ALL team members are notified of this page.

1st Assignment:
PLEASE comment below (anything you want, I just need to make sure everyone's in lol) that you have received the invite! Thank you! :)
